WINE AND TRADITIONAL GASTRONOMY – FACTORS THAT SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF ROMANIAN OENOTOURISM

Abstract

Oenotourism is the form of tourism practiced especially by connoisseurs, people with a high level of education and a high degree of culture, connoisseurs of the phenomenon and wine enthusiasts. Visits to the wine cellar are complemented by wine tasting in tandem with culinary tasting in a specific ambience. The past of wine and grapes on the territory of Romania is confronted with the history of this country, the wine can be considered a symbol of the Romanians' stability and continuity in these lands. In order to develop the Romanian oenotourism, it is necessary to have a characteristic infrastructure: heritage - spaces specially designed for making the tour in the wine cellars, attractive places for tasting and serving the table. The gourmet customs of the vineyard area must complement and contribute to the success of the wine cellar visit. Their presentation along with the specific wines must be a national priority, a challenge to uniqueness through authenticity and real support in preserving the Romanians' national identity. By approaching sensitive topics such as those of national and cultural identity by promoting authentic Romanian wine and gastronomy, the present study aims to highlight on the map of Romania the culinary habits and wines characteristic of each wine region in the country's historical zones.
