MUTATIONS OF THE ECCLESIASTICAL HERITAGE IN ROMANIAN SOCIETY
Abstract
The secularization of society, often associated with the phenomenon of modernization of society, represents a complex process characterized by a restructuring of the moral-ethical values and religious practices. One of the issues of contemporary secularization of society involves passing the property belonging to the churches or monasteries into State ownership. While in Western society this process is the consequence of social developments, in the countries of the Communist bloc in Eastern Europe the secularization was a political and ideological purpose. In these countries was noted the hostility of political regimes towards the Church's involvement in public life and the juridical separation between Church and State. The article makes a brief presentation of professional practices implemented for the management, preservation and enhancement of the ecclesiastical heritage, with an emphasis on the social-philanthropic action of the Church in Romania.
