THE CURRENT TRENDS AND ISSUES IN LIFELONG MUSIC LEARNING
Abstract
Lifelong learning has been advocated for the following three reasonreasons: 1. to acquir e new knowledge and technology 2. to mak e life rich 3 . to reconnect with the communitycommunity. Lifelong music learning is useful particularly in making life rich, and reconnecting with the community. I selected Yokohama, as an example of one city that is providing lifelong learning opportunities. I plan to research and report in detail the various aims, rules and activities that pertain to Yokohama. By doing this research, Yokohama city, individual wards, universities, NPOs, citizens groups a nd private companies provide the opportunity of music lifelong learning. Each facility has its own role, as well as their own individual aims, levels, fees, and so on. Some people are only interested in obtaining musical instrument technique, but others ar e also interested in forming human relationships. This study seems to suggest the methods and procedure which promote music lifelong learning.
