Abstract

The development of the modern economy is multifaceted. Apart from quantitative changes, it continuously experiences structural transformations. One significant trend in these transformations is the increase in the share of services in the total GDP produced[1, Volkova]. Despite the wide variety of views on the urgent necessity of fast-paced development of the economyВ’s industrial sector[3, Petrov, Karpova, Khoreva], it must be noted that economic analysis can be normative or positive. From the perspective of normative analysis, managerial targets and economic development benchmarks can be set that are to beaspired to (such as a new industrialization). However, from the perspective of positive analysis, economic systems should be studied in their present-day forms. Consequently, the prevalence of services in the structure of RussiaВ’s GDP (with calculations made both in terms of consumption and of production) should be accepted as a given fact and subjected to analysis. One of the most important development tendencies of the services sector that can be noted as taking hold currently is the convergence occurring within that sphere. Because this tendency is relatively new, it is having a significant impact on the environment of economic activity of services sector companies, and consequently serves as a catalyst for innovations in products, processes, management, and other areas. Given the above, convergence can be considered an innovative tendency. This article looks at the ways in which the phenomenon of convergence manifests itself in the services sector.
