AXE – THE TOOL SUPPORTING PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DESIGN PROCESS
Abstract
The design process is a complex, multi-aspectual set of actions and decisions that go toward achieving a concrete aim. In the history of the development of design as a professional field, an essential role has been played by an expanding number of methodological tools, created to support the effective execution of the design process. The diversity of the tools and methods to support design is often overwhelming. Instead of offering more tools, the KMP WFP team has attempted to develop a device whose main goal is to organize knowledge tried and tested in practice, in the form of a clear app, facilitating effective planning and execution of the design process. AXEВ’s flexible structure allows for an individual choice of methods and the order of their implementation in the planning process. AXE also includes a selection of definitions and case studies for a better understanding of the design process. AXE is a tool for professionals, and has an educational version for design students. This article outlines the premises, architecture, and functions of the AXE tools.
