CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE - A FORM OF ENCOUNTER WITH GOD AND WITH THE NEIGHBOR
Abstract
The increasing mobility of people, the improvement of the mass travel as well as the accommodation and recreational infrastructure development facilitate the tourism activities, and implicitly encourage visiting the Holy Places. Often, the offers of travel agencies neglect the intrinsic aspects of a genuine pilgrimage: the spiritual aspects, the proposal of a faith itinerary and the conservation of sacred aspects into the pilgrimage to the Holy Places. This confusion and the lack of involvement on the part of the Church can lead to erroneous perception of the pilgrimage, as a trip that aims to visit, in a relatively short time, possibly with minimal costs, as many of religious landmarks. Consequently, by being ignored his deeply religious significance, forgetting that the Christian pilgrimage is a form of encounter with God and with the neighbour, the pilgrimage risk becoming only a touristic tool.
