Abstract

For the first half of the century there are not any attesting documents to provide a real and detailed image of the city,but only fragments,duplicates of some plans located in Moscow or Vienna;only after forming Borroczyn Plan (1846-1852), that we can elaborate a real analysis of what has changed in Bucharest, during the past six decades since the accomplishment of the XVIIIth century final plan. In the middle of the XIXth century (1856),the Austrian marshal De Fligely compiles, due to the Walach lord Barbu Ећtirbei's request, the Maps of Oltenia and Muntenia.Later,in 1864,the map was also reprinted in Bucharest,at a scale of 1:57.000, under the title of Map of Meridional Romania,by Szatmary, particulary engaged for this work by the ruler A.I.Cuza. The Romanian army officer,Dimitrie Pappasoglu frames between 1871-1875 more plans of the city: a general one and five others for the districts- colours; in the same period he puts together an interesting plan,namely an estimation of the establishment's image in the year 1328. Between 1890-1900,the city's land register service begins methodically building and publishing plans.At the end of the century (1899),the Army Geographical Institute brings its direct contribution in the city's cartography and edits the most complete plan ever since, which will underlie numerous plans further edited.
