DECISION MAKING COMPETENCE AND MAXIMIZATION TENDENCY IN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Abstract
Decision making competencies belong to a broad group of general competencies. Relationships between decision making competencies and maximization tendency were investigated in a sample of 118 high school students. The Adult Decision-Making Competence was used to assess six decision making competencies and Maximization Scale to inspect maximization tendency and its three components. Multiple linear regression was used to predict maximization tendency. The entire model was found to be significant and almost all correlations between decision making competencies and maximization components were positive and statistically significant. The results show that the ability to make good decisions is higher in people with higher tendency to maximize the outcomes demanded from selected options.
