Abstract

The study is aimed to analyze the socio-economic and demographic situation during the period of 1941-1945. The Victory over fascism was achieved at the cost of huge losses. A significant proportion occurred in the Lower Volga region, where at Stalingrad there was a radical change in world war II. The city was completely destroyed. Were lost a significant portion of housing, industrial enterprises, social institutions. In the region significantly reduced the population and changed the age and gender structure of society. A significant deterioration in the living conditions of citizens, the poor quality of medical care, overwork, starvation caused an increase in morbidity and mortality. Significantly reduced the population of the areas under Nazi occupation. Significant population losses were the result of a policy of genocide carried out by Nazi invaders in the occupied territories. The severe consequences of the war were the orphanhood and homelessness. In military terms, the state needed a consistent course of social and demographic policy. Particularly relevant were public measures to support motherhood and childhood, the problems of abandonment and orphanhood. The war has created deep socio-economic and demographic crises, the negative effects of which were felt in the country after graduation.
