SUSTAINABLE RETROFITTING OF EXISTING RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS: A STUDY BASED ON ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Abstract
In last two decades, sustainability is one of the most important subject in our society. Retrofitting and reduction of CO? emisions from residential buildings is becoming an anchor of interactive approch to global, environmental and socio-economic policy. There are several measures taken to increase the energy efficiency, both for new buildings and for existing buildings, such us the 20 –20 –20 EU Policy andthe Nearly Zero Energy Buildings goal set bythe Energy Performance of Buildings Directive 2010/31/EC, which gives the guidelines to be followed in order to attenuate the energy consumption in this sector. Considering the curent built stock of residential building, with constructive sistem relised in precast reinforced concrete panels, is important to identify specific needs in order to improve the quality of life, reduce the energy consuption and achieve the Higro-thermal wellness. After the Second World War, in order to solve the fast migration of population from rural to urban area, the most eficient solution was building residential buildings in precast reinforced concrete panels, which gaved fast construction solutions and solved the housing deficiency. Like nresult of big expansions, europe has a wast haritage of buildings dating from the period of 1960 –1990. This Article takes in analysis a built heritage of post war dwelings in Romania. The study concentrates on a particulare building model named “Project type 770” used in most of the citieslocated on Romanian territory, and propose an reabilitation of the building envelope, trough a particular structure of rainscreen cladding system, made of prefabricated modules. Taking in consideration the differences of climate and temperature during the summer and winter period, the study is based on two cities, Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca. The study concentrate on developing the detailed study regarding the energy class of existing dwelings situated in diferent cities, and the improvement, projecting thenew envelope structure based on the energy needs. This solution allows to adapt the new Europeans guidelines regarding on the energy performance, but also an energetic improvement and incress of socio-economic value.
