INTERNATIONAL ISSUES UNDER THE PROGRAM AND ACTIVITY OF THE NATIONAL WORKERSВ’ PARTY IN THE PERIOD 1920-1926

Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyse the role and importance of international issues in shaping the program objectives and political activities of the national workers' party. This movement was created in 1920 by way of consolidation of previously functioning political, professional and social organizations. It took a centrist position on the Polish political scene of the interwar period. Being a democratic movement, it assessed the international situation from this perspective. The issue of Poland's security (especially the matter of military alliances ensuring Poland's security), the attitude towards nascent new authoritarian movements and their impact on the political system in Poland, the protection of workers' rights and the issue of the rights of Polish minorities living in European countries were particularly important international issues analysed both by the political bodies of the movement and its press organs. An issue inseparably related to the impact of international factors was also the assessment of both the international policy pursued by Poland and the activity of Polish diplomacy. The article uses descriptive and analytical methods appropriate for political history.
