ANALYSIS OF SELECTED MIGRANT STATISTICS IN EUROPE
Abstract
Migration is nowadays much discussed topic in Europe. Despite the fact that in the past migration has been associated with development, it is now more associated with uncertainty, fear and resistance of many inhabitants in European developed countries. In different parts of the world, causes of migration are different. However, factors that motivate people to emigrate can be unified into several: political instability, low standard of living, poverty, diseases, armed conflicts, religious contradictions etc. Factors that impact the choice of target country are above all: social security, respect for human rights, better economic opportunities, justice, security, and so on. The paper examines movement of refugees and migrants in Europe over last years. It also tries to outline development in the future. The paper examines arrivals of refugees and migrants across the Mediterranean Sea. We have focused on selected European countries. The paper also tries to find possible ways to solve migration crisis in Europe.
