Abstract
In the introduction of the paper the authors characterize current education reform in the Czech Republic based on the analysis of curricula documents and concept of education in primary and lower secondary school. Among its key principles we include communication education and integration of knowledge. In the next part of the paper we therefore offer the possibilities of integration of selected educational areas and focus on music education and language teaching (Czech language). They use examples from the works of classical music (artificial) and popular (non-artificial). They can be used for different purposes and in different stages of the learning process. The authors, among other things, focus on the use of music samples as a means of motivation and demonstrate how to use them when working with text, in stylistics and project work. In conclusion, the authors emphasize some problems of contemporary education in the Czech Republic.
