THE GENDER PORTRAIT OF “A MUZHIK” IN THE INTERNET-DISCOURSE
Abstract
This article is devoted to the description of the gender representation of the lexeme muzhik in Internet-discourse. Currently, the study of the specific of online communication and of the functioning of language as a means of electronic communication are refers to the most relevant and current areas of linguistics. Scientific novelty of work is defined by the choice of material and a source of a research – the new technique of identification of a gender component of the men's and woman's speech by comparison of messages at women's and men's Internet forums is offered. Relevance of this problem for linguistics is based on importance of identification and systematization of the general and specific characteristics of conceptualization of the person by representatives of opposite sexes. The purpose of this work – the description of gender specifics of interpretation of the person of a male – the muzhik – in modern language consciousness, identification and systematization of the not procedural and procedural characteristics reflected in language of users of the Russian-speaking Internet. For achievement of this purpose the following tasks have been set: to describe categorial structure of the nomination the muzhik, to established role and the place of this word in a valuable picture of the world of women and men, based on data of forums of the Russian-speaking Internet. The base of a research was made by 600 messages chosen from the most popular and large Russian forums. In this work the categorial structure of the nomination the muzhik is described. From texts of messages of men and women cognitive differential signs in two forms have been taken: "a muzhik – what kind of muzhik is he?" and "a muzhik – what does he do?". The received cognitive differential signs have been distributed on cognitive classification signs used for conceptualization of this phenomenon. "Relevance of the classifier" and "classifier brightness" have been calculated. As a result of the conducted research the gender component in interpretation of an image of the muzhik by Internet users is revealed.
