ANALYZING EMOTIONAL LINES IN CO-EVOLUTIONARY ART

Abstract

The present article studies the evolutionary process of a set of designs, interconnected among themselves, according to the guidelines of the artistic model Unplugged Evolutionary Algorithms (UEA). Therefore, an indivisible set consists of sixty images structured in ten generations, so that each generation is composed of six images. This generational process allows us to study the evolution of images and their meaning, analyzing the whole of a single work. The Horizon Project - Emotion in Lines project has been developed by six connected artists, who participate anonymously. The collective To Cry Out of Happiness makes its latest proposal through the synthesis of graphic language, with the aim that it can be parameterized in the future. Each artist has some formal limitations in the use of the line, the only basic formal element that intervenes in the creation of the designs. The plot line focuses on the graphic representation of emotions and their evolution. This experiment allows us to carry out diverse analyses, both internal (present in the work) and external (those that the viewer understands). In particular, this article shows the formulation of the artistic work and analyzes the behavior of various factors of the evolutionary algorithm, which are present in the results of the process. Thus, by means of descriptive morphological tables, the correspondence between the dominant gene and the evolution of the emotional variables that express the images is studied.
