FOSTERING PRE-SERVICE PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERSВ’ MOTIVATION FOR SCIENCES STUDYING IN GREEN LEARNING AREAS

Abstract

This article looks into natural science problems. Although a lot is being done in the country in the improvement of natural science education in schools, however, as international research data show, students’ natural science competence is insufficient. The present day student as well as schoolchildren is a technology generation person. His attitude to natural sciences, motivation to develop natural science competence is similar to schoolchildren’s. In this article it is discussed, how pre-service primary school teachers are motivated for natural science education to be willing to use green learning areas in doing pedagogical work. Research aim is: to investigate pre-service primary school teachers’ natural science motivation expression, studying in green learning areas. Research methodology. Qualitative research has been carried out. Content analysis strategy has been used. Students’ learning diary content analysis makes the essence of the qualitative research. The diaries are analysed referring to Deci, Rayan (2000) Self-Determination theory – intrinsic motivation theory. The basic person’s demands are: competence, autonomy, relatedness. Research showed, that learning in green areas develops natural science motivation, and female students have sufficient internal motivation in searching for goals.
