Abstract

Pedagogical science, through the materialist covering that is imposed on it lately, has distanced itself from the spiritual needs of man. Despite this fact, the influence and importance of Christian values remain eminently valid and current. Christianity and especially Orthodoxy, through their entire content based on the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ, the Pedagogue par excellence, continue to inspire educational ideas, mentality, and pedagogical thinking. Christian pedagogy imposes itself as a necessity in today’s society, through the need for moral-spiritual and religious education of the young people, increasingly deprived of the knowledge of perennial values. Following the life principles of Christian morality and evangelical virtues calls man to spiritual rebirth and edification, to rediscovering the existential meaning of life, through living the states of holy-spiritual life, cleansing, illumination, and deification. From the Orthodox perspective, moralspiritual education is a continuous disciplining of the human soul and the education of its will, benefiting its body, all these contributing to the harmonization of contemporary society, engulfed by so many disturbances and disruptive threats to European identity. Therefore, in order to highlight the subject of this study, we have used the analytical, historical and synthesis method, in collusion with the values of pedagogy in general.
