Abstract

Today we see the emergence of new forms of political self-organization of the society (active development of interregional relations within international organizations as well as new forms of autonomy of different territories. According to authors, one of the most effective methods of their investigation is interdisciplinary activity-geospatial approach as a method of learning the spatial forms of self-organization of a society, especially of itВ’s geopolitical self-organization. Disclosure of the theoretical content and application possibilities of this method as an instrument to interpret various political phenomena in earth space as a set of specific geopolitical relations was the main purpose of authorВ’s theoretical and practical research. These relationships are the result of the interaction between political activity and geographical space, of their mutual adaptation. To understand the essence and specifics of geopolitical relationship the authors reviewed the content of geographical space, geo-spatial structure and typology of geopolitical phenomena. The analysis of emergence of new and the development of traditional forms of spatial political self-organization of society with use of categories of activity-geospatial approach was also a task of the authors. We differentiate several types of geopolitical relations on sensitivity to distance and borders. On this basis authors differentiate several types of geopolitical systems at global (global and transglobal) and regional (local, border, cross-border, etc.) levels. Also authors have offered a classification of factors affecting the change of geopolitical systems of different levels. On the basis of activity-geospatial approach types of regional geopolitical systems and the spatio-temporal dynamic of the global geopolitical system ("world political map") with its specific features (historic periods, their geopolitical processes, epochs, main trends) are also discussed.
