ECONOMIC QUANTIFICATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF POPULATION STRUCTURE AND STRUCTURE OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS ON HEALTHCARE EXPENSES IN SLOVAKIA
Abstract
By the year 1983, Slovakia was in mortality rating under the global average. After this year, mortality in Slovakia reached a level above the global average, which was affected by a stronger demographic aging process. Its impact is particularly evident in the increasing share of people over the age of 65 and the decrease in the proportion of people in pre-productive and productive age. In the coming years, Slovakia will have to cope with demographic aging issues and take action mainly in the area of health and social policies. The productive part of the population is a contributor to the health and social insurance system in the form of levies. It also forms a substantial part of the population, which increases the budget of the Slovak Republic and which also finances public health. Morbidity grows every year. The share of women and men in the total number of hospitalizations is approximately 56 % and 44 %. The increase in the number of non-communicable diseases is also reflected in the increasing cost of treatment, increasing the proportion of illnesses with significant costs of long-term treatment. These factual facts provided us with a platform for formulating the main goal of the post. The main objective of the contribution was to examine the impact of the population structure as well as the structure of health care providers on the development of health insurance spending. These findings from our analyzes represent the primary platform for follow-up research on healthcare availability, morbidity and morbidity, the study of regional disparities in health indicators and its determinants.
