FACTORS OF DISABLED PEOPLEВ’S SOCIAL ACTIVITY IN RUSSIA

Abstract

The major research objective was to analyze the problem of organization of inclusive social space from a perspective of disabled peopleВ’s social activity. Authors examine the problem of social inclusion as interdisciplinary task, whereas social activity of people with disabilities is viewed as activity caused by both internal and external factors. Methodology. This work actualizes formation of disabled peopleВ’s social demands for opportunities corresponding to principles of humanism, social equality, tolerance and social participation. Results of social study among people with disabilities (the study was conducted in the city of Yekaterinburg, one of the largest Russian megalopolises in 2017, using standardized interview technique, n=250) and expert community (n=70) show a reproduction of paternalism mechanisms in disabled peopleВ’s behavior, low level of willingness for self-development and formalization of government measures to involve people with disabilities in all aspects of everyday life. Findings and discussion. The research enabled systematization and description of system of factors which define direction and intensity of disabled peopleВ’s social activity, relationships barriers and contradictions in their self-identification. In conclusion, main trends in actual state of disabled peopleВ’s activity are defined, and also recommendations regarding selection of main directions during a transition to complex biopsychosocial model of well-being are given.
