THE IMPORTANCE OF THE LABORATORY FOR ENTREPRENEURIAL FORMATION AND TRAINING IN REDUCING THE ABANDONEMENT OF STUDIES

Abstract

Poverty and social exclusion, as prominent phenomena in Romania, generate the necessity to study the elements of risk that determine a) the institutional factors and b) the personal factors that lead to university abandonment in the first year of studies, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, of the University of Oradea. At the same time, these factors may be regarded as an opportunity to create the tools that would reduce the risk of abandonment in the case of students from the vulnerable group subjected to such risk. The overall objective of the research conducted before writing this paper is to support first year undergraduate students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Oradea to find jobs related to the academic profile they have chosen, so as to prevent them from abandoning university studies. The research is in line with the Romanian Secondary Education Project (ROSE), which is fully funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, based on the Law no. 234/2015 for the ratification of the Loan Agreement (the Secondary Education Project) between Romania and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, signed in Washington, on April 17, 2015; it is also in agreement with the strategic objectives of the University of Oradea, and the institutional objectives of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. The instrument that would provide the opportunity to do activities with the view of reducing abandonment of university studies can be the Laboratory for Entrepreneurial Education and Training.
