LABOUR-LAW AND SOCIAL CLAIMS IN CONNECTION WITH PREGNANCY AND PARENTHOOD IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Abstract

This article is devoted to the support of families with children provided by the state, which is often discussed and still being topical issue. Labour-law claims of employed parents having small children are connected to their specific working conditions. By social claims, claims to financial benefits provided by the state within the periods of pregnancy and parents‘care of small children are meant. The aim of this article is to explain the given topic as for its legal frame as well as to determine the fundamental institutes – maternity leave and parental leave in connection with social benefits – financial security of entitled people. The author´s focus is also to point out some problems when applying those claims in practice. Regarding the fact, that legal frame of labour-law and social claims related to the pregnancy and parenthood reflect the level of social and family policy, this article provides with an option to compare the same issue with other countries. The article is elaborated based on literature reviews and interpretation of legal regulations. Knowledge gained by their analysis is applied on the concrete practical examples.
