CURRICULUM REFORM OF ETHICAL EDUCATION IN TEACHERS VIEW
Abstract
Ethical education in Slovakia is one of the youngest school subjects in state curriculum. Authors of Slovak ethical education are Spain psychologist R. R. Olivar and Slovak educator Ladislav Lencz. Ethical education became part of the state curriculum for secondary education in 1993 and for primary education in 2004. The main problem of Ethical education in Slovakia is experiment which has never been evaluated and has never been described impact of the subject at pupils' personality. In this context, there was often criticism of aims, content and methodology of Ethical education in 90s. Ethical education, its history, problems and dilemmas is first line of the study. The second line of the study is school reform in Slovak republic which brought double stage curriculum and new philosophy in school practice which is characterized by freedom and responsibility for teachers in planning their educational process. Curriculum of ethical education has also changed after 2008 but expectations were not filled (for example affective goals were not implemented, formal mistakes were not corrected, general goals and content were not actualized, etc.). In study is described what and how teachers have changed in their own ethical education teaching plans in the context of school reform and its philosophy and how teachers have actualized content of the subject in the context of actual issues. In our view, ethical education is young and important school subject: it shows how we can live better and happier life with respect to other people and to environment.
