Abstract

Transition to the 21st century brought within the framework of the European a special situation, namely, migration of the population to the other member states in order to find well paid jobs. The research analyses the population migration within the last 3 years compared with the period 1990-2000. It takes into account the level of migration from countries such as Romania, Bulgaria or Hungary immediately after the accession to the European Union. The research is based on data from the European Union reports, the database of Eurostat and the European Commission. Immigration in recent decades has become a major component of the development and maintenance of economic growth in developed countries in the European Union. The net sum of the migration from France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom in the period 1990-2014 has reached 15 million people. In the case of net migration, meaning the difference between the immigration and emigration, it may be easily noticed that immigration is considerably higher than the net migration. The aim of this work is to highlight the migration of population and integrate it into the European Community. Once with accession to the European Union, access of the eastern countries population by the West was relieved and hence living standards, heavy conditions of living in the native country, forced the citizens of these countries to seek employment in countries such as France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. The vast majority of the population that have made the decision to look for a job abroad come from the rural areas, where the perspective to find a domestic job decreased. This sacrifice was carried out initially in order to be able to send the financial resources back in the country to financially support their families.
