Abstract

As things stand now, the two foreground factors, among others, contributing to sustainability of the integrated structures represented by regional industry clusters are sound use of energy resources and improvement of the economic efficiency of energy conservation measures and technologies being mastered by the manufacturers. The issues related to tailoring of a package of energy conservation measures followed by assessment of the influence produced by energy conservation projects on the efficiency and sustainability of a particular industrial enterprise still remain understudied. With that background, the authors here offer a methodological approach that have been tried out by them with the aim of providing assessment of the energy conservation factors interrelation, their influence on the production cost structure and ultimate economic efficiency. The article demonstrates the models designed to define the operating and financial leverage, whereby the correlation between energy factors and absolute indicators of enterprise performance efficiency is determined, in particular, earnings, product sales profit, and net profit. The authors furthermore offer a dynamics analysis involving the main indicators that reflect the utilization efficiency of the energy resources available with the largest industrial enterprise representing the core of the petrochemical cluster formed in one of the Russian regions. The analysis has helped obtain practical findings and shape up the prerequisites for energy intensity reduction in the manufacturing processes, as well as for improvement of energy efficiency and sustainable growth of the regional integrated industrial clusters.
