Abstract

Introduction. A series of studies presented in the paper indicate that people with motor experience are better mentally prepared to prevent and combat stress, negative emotional states due to the fact that psychic states influence the physiological state of the body which in turn has a repercussion on the psyche. Objective. This research seeks to identify the impact of physical activity on the personality of future lawyers, the echo of the research results, which we expect to be positive, reaching other students of the University of Craiova and not only, but it can also provide an extra proof to the authorities responsible for the inclusion in the standards concerning the realization of the study programs for the compulsory physical education classes, through a legislative provision that goes beyond the institutional authority, at the level of the universities. Methods. For the implementation, an experimental group of 16 students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Craiova was formed, the subjects belonging to the representative team of the Hexagon Competition of the Law Faculty of Romania and practicing sports activities 4 times a week. In order to determine the self-esteem level, the Rosenberg Scale was applied and the results of the experimental group subjects were compared with those of 16 subjects that were included in the control group, the latter attending only one hour of physical education per week. Self-esteem represents a deep and strong human need, essential for a healthy adjustment, that is a perfect functioning and self –fulfillment of the individual. Results. If at the initial testing there were no significant differences between the two groups, the second test revealed differences in strongly significant media, at a threshold of p <0.05, the ANOVA method (F = 24.253). Conclusions. The emphasis on the positive effects that the constant exercise of physical exercise and participation in mass sports competitions have on the character traits of the student personality, especially on self-esteem and on the self itself, is an attempt to motivate as many students as possible in re-evaluating their attitude towards movement and the intrinsic values that it promotes.
