PROTECTING SWEET WATER RESOURCES FROM MOUNTAIN AREA THROUGH ECOLOGICAL INVESTMENTS IN TOURISM INDUSTRY
Abstract
In the concept of sustainable development, the tourism industry has accepted the notion of sustainable tourism. To respond to the central idea underpinning sustainable development, namely to protect natural resources, the article proposes solutions for the rational management of freshwater resources. Ensuring comfort standards in tourist accommodation units involves consuming considerable amounts of water. Total water consumption can be diminished by implementing storage and use solutions of rainwater. The Romanian precipitations regime provides favorable conditions for the realization of fresh water savings with a beneficial impact on the environment. The article approaches the possibility of replacing a quantity of potable water with the consumers of a mountain board. It was analyzed, the possibility of using rainwater for the supply of toilet bowl tanks, and washing machines, at an accommodation unit in the mountain area located in the Predeal tourist resort in Brasov County, Romania. The design of the installation for capture, storage and distribution of meteoric water at the accommodation unit was carried out, as well as the economic analysis of the necessary investment.
