DEVELOPMENT OF DENTAL TOURISM IN TIMISOARA, ROMANIA
Abstract
The diversity of types and forms of tourism is supported by tourist resources and especially by tourists' motivation. Currently, the medical tourism is experiencing the greatest development, especially at European level, but not only. The main elements to support this form of tourism are the natural factors of treatment, pricing, results, equipment and technics, and the reputation of certain doctors. The development of medical tourism can be done in spas or through high quality health services. Dental tourism falls under the second category and can be easily and quickly developed. At EU level there are recommendations and law regulations that support the development of medical tourism and the mobility of these tourists. Timisoara is an urban agglomeration located in the western part of Romania with tradition in medical education and specialists that opened their own practices, even dental clinics. In the last years, plenty of tourists have beneficiated from dental services in many of these clinics. The presentation of a clinic from Timisoara comes to strengthen the idea that medical tourism in general and dental tourism in particular are continuously growing and constitute a source of income.
