RESEARCH TRENDS IN FOOD SAFETY – SHORT ANALYSIS
Abstract
The thorny issue of food safety is not new, not by far. Yet, it has been somehow in the shadow of ensuring global food security for a while, and currently it comes out from that shadow, making a spectacular step forward. Researchers have managed to put food safety in almost everyoneВ’s minds and that is an ongoing education exercise with unprecedented results. Consequently, the authors ask themselves if the topic has reached its end or, on the contrary, if there are any new approaches to be considered by the researchers. By conducting a bibliometric analysis on the scientific data from Scopus and Web of Science, the authors managed to highlight the focal points of research in the food safety domain. Also, the analysis of the word frequencies in the field indicates the main topics on food safety discussed in the articles selected from the two databases. The results show that food safety as a research topic follows a growing trend in both research papers and topic opportunities, turning out to be a true fountain of wealth. The paper should be of interest to researchers, policy makers, as well as current and future entrepreneurs, who need to find about consumer concerns and research results to develop a sustainable business.
