THE SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF ESTIMATED TOURIST INTENTIONS OF TRAVELLING USING TPB. CASE STUDY: MOLDAVIA REGION
Abstract
Tourism is an extremely active agent producing significant spatial modifications and changes in the territorial development. Therefore, it becomes necessary, for different research domains, to try estimating the socio-economic, ecological, geographical and territorial impact of tourism through the analysis of its main actor, the tourist. The main objective of this study was to anticipate the intentions of travelling and of the preferred Moldavian tourist destinations. Based on these findings, a second purpose was to see if there is a connection between the predictability of the intention of travelling, the choice of specific destinations and the tourists' place of origin. A survey has been carried out and Romanian tourists have been questioned regarding their intentions and motivations of travelling in Moldavia. The results indicate that the variables of the TPB represent valid predictors for the intention of travelling in Moldavia, as well as for the self-reported behavior. Also the analysis of tourists' place of origin has permitted us identifying their specific Moldavian destinations. As it is the first Romanian study on TPB applied in tourism to have been carried out, the findings warrant further research examining the predictive potential of behavioral intention of Romanian tourism travelling trends.
