VISUAL COMPONENT OF THE MEDIA CONTENT OF SOCIAL NETWORKS
Abstract
The relevance of the study is determined by the necessity to consider the specifics of the visual components functioning of media content of the leading social and political media, presented in major social networks. The empirical study base (the research is supported by the Russian Science Foundation, project No. 18-18-00007) is the content of Meduza media for the period from the 30th of April, 2018 to the 6th of May, 2018. The total amount is more than 240 units. The results of the study are provided in the article. The study is based on the complex of methods. Special research methods are structural-typological, structural-functional, cultural-historical, method of content analysis. General scientific research methods include analysis, synthesis, description, observation, comparison, generalization. The appliance of the indicated methods allowed to perform a deep understanding of the empirical material and achieve the main goal, which is to analyze the visual component of media content in social networks. The authors provide the present study with the concept of modern visual culture and its manifestation in everyday reality, as well as its influence on the media sphere and transformation processes in the modern media space. The phenomenon of social networks in modern culture and its interaction with the media is also rendered with a special attention to strategies for media promotion in social networks. The role of the visual components of the content, its types and functions in the process of media promotion among social networks are also considered. That is provided with the example of VKontakte public page content of Meduza.
