THE INFLUENCE OF THE CURRICULUM ON THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS IN THE FIELD OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE
Abstract
Focusing on the way universities influence the stylistic and architectural direction of young architect students, this article aims to highlight how the curriculum succeeds in educating their preferences towards expressive and chromatic coherence. This study examines three main directions: architectural, chromatic and stylistic language. The target group is composed of three categories of students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, Polytechnics Timisoara, Specialization of Furniture and Interior Design. The categories are: first year of study representing the beginner class in design; the second year of study representing the students who already had classes of different architectural/design subjects; the third category represented by our master students from the fourth year of study being the experimented analyzed subcategory. The educational background of the subjects was also studied, being considered decisive in the analysis of the results of the first target group of the freshman year. The results varied on the three directions investigated, resulting in a direct influence of the curriculum on students` knowledge.
