ON RELATIONS BETWEEN COLD AND CIVILIZATION BASED ON THE „WISSENSCHAFTSLEHRE“BY J.G. FICHTE AND IDEAS OF RUSSIAN AN-THROPOLOGISTS

Abstract

Abstract. The paper explores the cold as a vital attribute of civilisation. The authors criticise the common understanding of the cold as a source of misery, and the North as a place of primitiveness and backwardness. On the basis of the method of „Wissen-schaftslehre“ by J.G. Fichte, the authors produce the idea of the existence of the collec-tive superconsciousness of the northerners that specifically expresses the freedom. The authors conclude on the basis of cosmism philosophy that the cold can be regarded as one of the conditions of possibility of civilisation in the genetic sense (without the cold the emergence of civilisation would not be possible) and in content sense (the cold in a modified form found in modern civilisation in a variety of its manifestations). Im-portantly, the cold will allow humanity to come to a deeper understanding of itself, and hence – to the formation of a more rational social order, corresponding to the dignity of every person and humanity as a whole.
