Abstract

In this study we aimed to highlight a possible association between the phenomenon of burnout and the self-esteem of medical personnel, as well as to identify some differences between assistants and doctors, as well as between men and women in terms of the phenomenon of burnout, but and identifying the same differences in selfacceptance. The research was carried out on a sample of 62 participants ,employees of the County Clinical Hospital "St. Andrei" Emergency Department from Constan?a. The general objective of the research consisted in highlighting the association between the phenomenon of burnout and the self-esteem of medical personnel, as well as identifying some differences between assistants and doctors, as well as between men and women in terms of the phenomenon of burnout, but also identifying the same differences in self-acceptance. Tools used in research are Burnout syndrome evaluation questionnaire (Maslach&Jackson,1981) [8] and The Self-Attitude Questionnaire was developed by Carver, Voie, Kuhl, and Ganellen (1988) [5] The results of the research also highlighted the fact that men set higher standards for themselves compared to women, and women are more critical of themselves and generalize mistakes and failures more than men. They are also the ones who have a more unfavorable general attitude related to their own self compared to women who adopt a more favorable attitude. As a limitation of this research, we consider the small number of doctors participating in the study compared to the number of medical assistants, their share being almost half of the total number of medical personnel.
