LABOR MIGRATION OF THE POPULATION OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Abstract

Migration of the population is one of the most important demographic processes. Migration of the population has a significant impact on the changing structure of the population. One of the driving factors of migration is the search for more attractive work. In the context of the transformation of the Russian economy in recent years, there has been an increase in migration flows in connection with the search for work. Taking into account the economic difficulties of moving to a permanent place of residence in another region, there is a pendular or seasonal labor migration in Russia. Many people who live permanently in the same region work in another, while they do not change the region of their permanent residence. This phenomenon is very difficult to measure and evaluate statistically. This paper presents an approach to the statistical evaluation of labor migration in Russia. The microdata of the labor force survey were taken as a source of information for the research. Within the framework of this survey, one million people are interviewed, which ensures the representativeness of the final data. The article presents a statistical analysis of labor migration in Russia. The points of attraction of labor migrants, as well as the most depressed regions, are singled out. An assessment of labor migrants was carried out in the context of occupations. Based on the results of the analysis, recommendations were formulated for the state bodies on development of the labor market of specific regions.
