Abstract

The current research highlights the influence of specific means in dance sport, on developing psychomotor abilities in beginner dancers, starting from the idea that childhood age is the most opportune period for acting on this subject. The subjects for this research (n=24), age group 6-9 years old, were divided into two groups (experiment=12 and control=12). The experiment group is formed by beginner dancers from the Katamis Dance Sport Club, Craiova, Romania and the control group is formed by pupils that have never participated in dance classes, in this last group our intervention being null. The elaborated working programs for the study, which have also had in their structure movement games with direct objectives of developing coordinative capacity, were applied on the dancers from the experiment group, during a trial period of six months. The subjects were tested before and after applying the proposed work program (T1, T2), the results being compared between the two groups. After the final testing of the subjects, we registered significant statistical differences (p<0.005) between the children from the two groups when testing balance, general coordination and sensory and motor coordination. Dance sport has proven its efficiency in developing the coordinative capacities in children juvenile I age category that practice this sport, thus making possible a better learning and assimilating of a large number of motion skills.
