ASPECTS OF TEACHING SINGING TO JUNIOR SCHOOL LEARNERS
Abstract
The voice of every child is individual and depends on its anatomic and psychical qualities. Therefore, the aim of teacher is to show the direction for correct formation of the voice and to disclose individual vocal abilities of every child. The aim of the research is to reveal peculiarities of teaching singing to junior school children in the context of various musical activities. The methods of the research include semi-structured interview with teachers, qualitative content analysis and educational project. On the basis of the acquired data it is possible to state that music education of junior school learners, highlighting singing in the context of other activities, develop psychological components of development such as attention, memory, thinking, language, imagination which enable learners to express their thoughts bravely, to engage in musical activities conducted during lessons and to learn to justify own attitude. In this context teachers distinguish singing as a particularly important music activity that is implemented applying various ways of teaching singing. They would encourage a closer cooperation between a learner and a teacher, would stimulate a more creative attitude of learners towards various songs and would encourage them to express various thoughts, emotions and feelings.
