THE MYSTERY OF YOUTH AND THE MIRAGE OF SEXUALITY
Abstract
The vision about the family and the relations it relies on has recently experienced radical changes, some positive, others negative, the accent seeming to pass from the sense of the family destination to the evaluation of the personal relation of those who support or deny it. The destination or the goal of the family used to be lived in direct relation with its traditional image, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, namely father and mother, children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. Yet, this image has changed, and the family has got to the point of being seen rather through the prism of the satisfaction of the personal relation, this relation being viewed, to a great extent, in connection to the mirage of sexuality, to the detriment of the notion of marriage and without assuming a conjugal beauty beyond any selfish exploitation. The “means” civilizing our society, for instance TV, internet etc., propagate, increasingly more, sexual freedom and the pleasures of the body, a fact with multiple consequences: destruction of the magic of someone being in love with the image of the person and, accordingly, with God’s image in that person; reduction of the eros only to the contact of the bodies, namely to satisfying the sexual instinct, which turns the mystery of life into a physical pleasure mechanism and leads to a diminution of the human life’s dimensions, because man is also a soul, not just a body.
