ADDRESSIG SOME PROBLEMS OF INTEGRATION OF MIGRANTS IN THE SLOVAK LABOR MARKET

Abstract

Negative demographic evolution, which applies also to the Slovak Republic, can be reversed to a certain extent by a well-set immigration policy. Integration policy plays an important role in immigration policy. An appropriately set integration policy is a prerequisite for an increase in the number of migrants to have a positive impact on the economic development of the host country. Failing to integrate migrants into the host country's society results in marginalization. The article analyzes the current situation of migrant workers in Slovakia, and in several respects: firstly in terms of the development of labor migration, further in terms of integration of migrants in the Slovak labor market, possibilities of employment, qualification structure and the nature of the vacancy - all in context of objectives and measures of the Integration Policy of the Slovak Republic approved by the Slovak Government in January 2014. Among the various areas of integration policy, the article focuses primarily on the labor market and the social integration of migrants. We also address the issue of integration in the field of education on a marginal basis as we consider this to be a significant determinant of the future success or failure of integration of migrants in the labor market in the host country.
