ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE PROBLEM OF SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The scale of the modern world economy has transformed economic growth from a means of solving social problems into a factor of their aggravation. Further expansion of the economic system leads to irreversible devastating consequences for the ecosystem of the planet. Traditional economic logic has come into conflict with the interests of mankind. This article discusses the need to replace the model of economic growth with the paradigm of sustainable economic development, which includes environmental restrictions on economic activity. The possibilities of using market mechanisms and state regulation for minimization and compensation of damage to the environment and transition to a low-carbon economy are analyzed. The role of environmental investments and innovations in solving the problems of modern production and consumption, including problems of negative externalities, problems of protection of public goods is considered. An assessment is made of the feasibility of the model of ecological economics.
