THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GLOBAL COMPETENCE AND ITS INFLUENCE ON TEACHER TRAINING PROCESS
Abstract
Our living in the dramatically globalizing world makes us admit that individuals need new abilities to survive and succeed in the societies with a high level of interdependence and integration. As a response to these current challenges global competence appears to play a very important role in bringing up a globally competent person who can work and communicate effectively with people from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds which is especially urgent for Russia as it is actively participating in solving a number of international problems. Teaching English is the best way to incorporate global competence into a set of educational objectives, educational practice in case teachers are prepared to include global competence into the content of academic subject teaching. This study describes the concept of global competence, its structure and ways of its adaption to pedagogical reality by integrating it in the curriculum, by practicing new technologies (critical thinking, problem solving method), through school teaching practice and common learning of foreign and native cultures on local, regional, national and international levels.
