Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the factors that act as facilitators and inhibitors in the inclusion of students with disabilities in secondary schools. Mainstreaming of disability can be defined as the systematic integration of the priorities and needs of persons with disabilities in all areas of life with a view to promoting equal opportunities. The current trend in Czech Republic proceeds further from integration towards inclusion. The idea of inclusive education is also a part of the declarations and laws that relate to education in the countries of the European Union. Factors affecting the inclusion of people with disabilities are the basis for the description of barriers that inhibit this process or make them completely impossible. An integrated research design - grounded theory and TBSD test has been used to determine these factors. The results obtained in the form of the theory are in accordance with the concept of life participation approach to disability according to International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health and with the reform paradigm of social work and the antiopressive approach. Based on this theory it is possible to identify and describe inclusion facilitators and inhibitors of students with disabilities in secondary schools. The outcome of the study is integrating the issue of students with disabilities into the social and educational consulting services.
