SOLIDARITY CLAUSE IN LISBON TREATY

Abstract

The nowadays Europe appears to us as a scenery reflecting, in other images, the history of a continent revolved by attempts, disputes, challenges for the exceeding of which is necessary finding, every time other solutions, the aimed finality being every time the same, security and peace on continent. The history has reflected the necessity of an international alliance between states, the fundamental aim being to ensure stability on a regional and continental level, as well as the fact that alliances created by military or political constraints have been doomed of failure in time, with adverse consequences for component states. As powerful and united, Europe proved, during years, being so fragile, and the elements that seemed to unite nations between them, become sometimes the causes that generated the failure between allied states. The build-up of the European Union, as we can see it today, was contoured in time, trying to give a response to the requests imposed by the evolution of the international relations. Moreover, neither the build-up nor the ulterior evolution of the European Union was one lacking challenges and crises in the relations between member states, regarding in time, the finality proposed at the build-up moment, gas been certainly reached. The purpose of the present study is to analyse a mechanism introduced through the Lisbon Treaty, mechanism intended to consolidate between them member state, namely the solidarity clause.
