DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE IN THE STUDY PROCESS OF PODOLOGISTВ’S PROGRAM

Abstract

21st century is characterized by rapid changes in economy, science, education and social life. The necessity for the development of new competence for everybody is growing day by day to be able to compete in the labour market. In order to make the students - future podologistВ’s training and their professional competence development successful, it is necessary to introduce systematic changes in the content of the program, in the use of modern teaching and learning methods and evaluation of the study process of the program to ensure the planned learning outcomes- professional and general competences to satisfy the needs of the clients, to be employed and satisfied in the personal life. The aim of the present article is to evaluate the formation of professional competence, emphasizing the innovative approach to the course content development, the latest teaching methods, and students' choice of work organization forms that improve their critical thinking, problem solving, attitude towards work, different people. The theoretical analysis of scientific literature and documents, survey of 150 students, and 30 self-assessment reports of lecturers work were used to reveal the aim. The research was carried out based on medical college. The findings indicate the strengths of the study process and the still existing gaps that are analyzed in the article. It also gives recommendations for the improvement of the study process, development of professional and general competences.
