POST-SOVIET REFORMATION OF PHILOSOPHY AND THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION CRISIS IN RUSSIA

Abstract

The paper examines the complex relationship between traditional values of scientific philosophy in Russia and the new system of scientific communications. The authors diagnose the fall of the "Humanist Thaw" and the coming of "New Epoch of Engineers". While Russian philosophy is in the quest for its new identity, the modern Russian professionals found themselves on a continuum between two extremes of old-school academic and corporate values, with a trend toward the latter. Meanwhile, a majority of post-soviet philosophers still perceive themselves as successors to the scientific ideology in the Marxist sense and regard the working out of a scientific world outlook as their goal. That is why the professional community in Russia manifests a great loss of confidence concerning the possibility of sound communication among scholars and professionals holding on to different presuppositions in their activities. The article explores the possibilities to constitute valuable instruments to create a more hopeful attitude towards scientific and professional dialogue.
