Abstract

Adolescence is a period of vulnerability for risk behaviours such as substance use or unprotected sexual activities that pose significant threats to the health and wellbeing. A nationally representative sample of 3,524 high school seniors was included in our study. A self-administered online questionnaire assessed the health-related risk behaviours such as substance use, sexual behaviours and suicidal history. Overall results indicated that risk behaviours prevalence was higher among Romanian adolescents compared to European averages. Inequalities in risk behaviours were mostly related to low socio-economic situation and lack of appropriate social support.
