ASSESSMENT OF IMPACT OF RAILWAYS ON ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
The submitted thesis called “Environmental Impact Analysis of Railways” deals with life cycle of superstructure, which includes rails (metals), rail road ties, rail fastening system and track ballast. The analysis is processed using the LCA, by the principle of from cradle-to-grave“. This principle is often used in industrial practice. It consists in product life cycle costing, from raw material acquisition, but it ends by leaving the production, the stage of product use and its removal are not weighed. In the process of Life Cycle Assessment all obligatory phases were performed according to valid legislation, the čSN EN ISO 14 000 norm (definition of goals and scope of the performed analysis, inventory analysis, analysis of impact of railways on environment, and interpretation analysis). The analysis of impact of railways on the environment was created by using the SimaPro professional software.
