SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT INDICATORS - QUALITY OF LIFE INDEX
Abstract
The quality of life is at present estimated both on the grounds of material values determining the societyВ’s standard of life and through non-material values, which affect the level of human satisfaction with life, such as good health, leisure time, a level of independence or social relations. Measuring the quality of life is a complex task, because it regards subjective aspects, which are difficult to express on a numerical scale. This article presents problems of constructing a universal meter describing the level of quality of life and the comparative analyses of European countries based on quality of life index.
