IT TOOL CREATED IN LINE WITH THE CONCEPT OF “MICROTOOLS BASED ON THE RELATIONAL DATA MODEL” TO SUPPORT THE PROCESS OF WORK PLANNING FOR SPECIAL SCHOOL TEACHER ASSISTANTS.
Abstract
There is a specific group of information processes performed in an organisation which are particularly linked with information acquisition, processing and rendering. And even though numerous highly advanced IT solutions are commonly available, handling of such processes often involves a considerable share of manual activities. In order to support them, one can use tools developed in spreadsheets by following the author’s signature concept referred to as “Microtools Based on the Relational Data Model”. The article addresses a concept of one of such tools created to support a process which consists in planning the work of special school teacher assistants. The first aspect explained in the paper is the functionality assumed for the tool in question. What has been identified is the kind of information considered relevant to facilitate the work performed by a person preparing such a plan. Subsequent paragraphs of the article present the data structure providing grounds for the solution proposed, as determined with reference to the problem analysis previously conducted. Connections between individual entities identified within this structure have been illustrated in an adequate Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD). Furthermore, characteristics of all entities and their attributes have been provided. The description of the tool structure comprises the method used to implement all the entities proposed in the spreadsheet. What has also been discussed is the solutions applied to ensure integrity of the data stored as well as those which allow for the assumed functionality to be attained. The final section of the article provides a description of the advantages resulting from application of the tool in question.
