LITERATURE IS A PRIVILEGED PRIORITY FOR INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION AND MAINTAINING GLOBAL STABILITY

Abstract

A swift acceleration of global processes nowadays, intensification of new tendencies in world development call for setting new priorities in dynamically changing world. Providing security is a fundamental priority of international safety. So, all efforts must be concentrated on achieving the following basic aims: - Providing national safety, keeping and strengthening sovereignty and territorial integrity. - Building favorable conditions for steady and dynamic growth, raising the standard of life. - Consolidating world peace, general security and stability. - Establishing good neighbourly relations. - Developing multilateral, mutually beneficial relations. - Rendering assistance in constructive dialogue and partnership in behalf of strengthening accord and mutual enrichment of different cultures and religions. - Popularizing cultural achievements of mankind and humanistic values. Literature has always been considered to be the privileged priority that people all over the world have created for a long period of their existence for intercultural communication. Literature is an art to see the world. Every piece of fiction is thought to be the form of indirect cross-cultural communication. The peculiarity of works of art are defined by the aims of the authors to create a figurative picture of the world reflecting national mentality, social, historic and cultural paradigm and the inner world of the people. A text is a form of discourse and comprehensive functional whole which reveals a great number of meanings within a cross-cultural system. It appears in unity of explicit and implicit, literal and figurative senses. The process of the interpretation of the text is multilevel: perception, cognition, understanding in the context of the national culture and interaction. The perception of literal works depends on many factors: communicative aims, background knowledge of both the author and the reader, specific character of ethnographic, historical, geographic, social phenomena. The cognition of realities of foreign culture in fiction gives evidence of national peculiarities between native and foreign cultures, requires knowledge of definite historical-cultural context. Otherwise, inadequate interpretation of phenomena of strange culture may arise.
